Learn a language in 80 hours in Geneva or in New York
“Learning a language in 80 hours” is an innovative, efficient and stimulating teaching method which enables students to master a foreign language in 80 hours over a matter of months ‒‒ or even weeks in the event of urgent requirements.
Initially designed for humanitarian purposes, the Method Varadi is now used by diplomats, international organizations, companies and individuals to learn a language in a short period of time. The Varadi School offers personalized language courses in thirty-three languages for individuals and companies, in a warm and stimulating atmosphere.
After thirty-one years of existence in Switzerland, the Varadi Institute will also open its doors in New York in February 2014. Students of the Swiss institute will be able to follow a part of their programme in the heart of Manhattan, having the advantage of the same successful teaching method and of a total cultural immersion.
A linguist and pedagogue trained at the Sorbonne and the University of Geneva, Judit Varadi founded the institute thirty-one years ago, convinced that our learning abilities are far greater than we would imagine them to be. Seneca’s words “It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that things are difficult” are at the heart of the Varadi School’s pedagogical approach.
Prepared thanks to high-level research in the field of linguistics, didactics and pedagogy, this extremely effective, stimulating and completely personalized method rethinks the way to transmit knowledge and allows the student to be constantly in the process of building new knowledge. The Varadi Method is a pedagogical approach simultaneously spontaneous and structured, which places the student at the centre of learning. Although there is a common idea that it takes years to learn a new language, the amount of time is less determinant than the method and the pedagogical and human qualities of the teacher.
The complete 80-hour programme allows the student to reach a level of general autonomy which is between an intermediate and advanced level, depending on the amount of personal work the student can do outside the classroom. If the students already have a good command of the required language, a programme consisting of twenty to sixty lessons, depending on their level, will be enough to reach their goal. Depending on the needs of each student, the programme can be orientated towards a variety of professions, such as commercial, financial, literary, legal, scientific or any other speciality on request.
Each individual learns in a specific way, so the Varadi School tailors a unique and personalized programme for each student and shapes the knowledge in the most absorbable way for each person, allowing the student to reach rapid and reliable results.
Judit Varadi believes that there is no bad student, only bad ways to teach ‒‒ if the knowledge is structured accordingly to the students’ manner of learning, which is different for every person, the material is easy to master. Thanks to the in-depth analysis of each student’s
specific needs, the Varadi School develops the relevant educational tools that allow each student to perform at his/her best. The Varadi School’s teachers are university-educated native speakers, trained in the unique method of the Varadi Institute. To build a personalized tailored programme, the teacher adapts to the specific needs and goals of each student, making the learning of a new language a stimulating and enjoyable experience. Students will explore the new language through a lively interaction with their teacher, developing their speaking, reading and writing skills in creative ways. Each participant will receive unique and personalized teaching material, depending on her/his level, rhythm and specific goals.
